Downton Abbey - Cast know when it will end?!

Downton Abbey's Brendan Coyle say

cast know when it will end

Downton Abbey star Brendan Coyle has revealed that the cast all know when the drama will end.
The actor, who plays valet John Bates, joked that the period drama would turn intoEmmerdale if it continued into modern day.
Coyle told Radio Times: “I can pretty much say all of us know when Downton is going to end.
“This is a show with a finite life. If we bring this into the '50s, it's Emmerdale.”
Bates is currently in jail accused of murdering his wife.
Discussing his alter-ego, Coyle said: “Bates was in the Boer War. He would have killed a lot of people.
“Does that mean he can kill his wife? What does it do to you?”
Insiders have predicted that Downton Abbey may continue for another couple of series.
Meanwhile, Downton creator Julian Fellowes recently revealed that he would be interested in writing a prequel to the series.

Downton 3 - Episode 6 sneak peek...

3x04 - downton-abbey Fan Art

I dont know about you, but I'm still recovering from watching Episode 5 on Sunday!  Maybe focusing on what Downton Abbey has in store for us next, maybe that will help the grieving process a, bring on the spoilers!

Now ITV has released the episode description for episode 6 and it doesn't sound as though the drama shows any signs of slowing.

 It reads:

-Tempers fray as Isobel's kind gesture backfires.

-Branson's decisions are put under scrutiny, but Mary fights his corner.

-Robert and Cora's relationship suffers, can Violet make them see things differently?

-As Bates's chance of freedom slips away he goes to extreme lengths.

So Isobel's attempt to help Ethel fails?
 Not at all shocked.
Hmmm, Mary taking up the fight for Branson?   Interesting!
And do you suppose the reason Robert and Cora are having problems is because of Matthew's concern about the way the estate is being managed?
Or is Cora punishing her husband for listening to the doctor instead of his wife?
That's my guess....

In other "Downton Abbey" news, creator Julian Fellowes announced on Sept. 27 that there currently is a prequel in the works that will reportedly document the Robert and Cora love story.

Can't wait to find out.  Bring on episode six!

Only 5 more days....

Downton Abbey - Extras

Comedy Video: Downton Arby’s
Downton Abbey has many charms: deliberate pacing, gorgeous backdrops, top-rate acting. In fact, just about the only thing it's been missing these first two phenomenal seasons? Roast beef. And maybe curly fries. Fixed!
Special bonus points to this pitch-perfect parody for a cast that includes Richard Kind and Matt Walsh. Oh, right, yes, and for Lady Edith ramming her straw up her nose.

Downton Abbey 3 - Episode 5

Full recap below:

September 1920. Edith is asked to write a regular newspaper column. She is excited about the opportunity, but most of the family is not supportive. Isobel helps Ethel by offering her a job as a servant; however, Mrs Bird refuses to work with Ethel and consequently leaves. The new maid Ivy draws Alfred's interest and receives Daisy's resentment. Matthew believes that Robert has been mismanaging the estate and finds an ally in George Murray, the family solicitor. Mary is angry when she discovers that Matthew has been discussing this without her father, Lord Grantham, present. Sybil goes into labour and Lord Grantham hires a famous obstetrician, Sir Philip Tapsel, upsetting Dr Clarkson and Cora. The two doctors disagree over Sybil's care, Dr Clarkson insisting that Sybil is suffering from eclampsia and should be taken to hospital but Sir Philip arguing that Sybil is fit and healthy. Despite the disagreement Sybil delivers a girl and all seems well, however during the night she becomes very ill and dies. The next day Cora seems to blame her husband for the death, because of his refusal to accept Dr Clarkson's argument that Sybil was ill.

Downton Abbey Episode 5: preview pictures

Take a look at Sunday's episode of Downton,
and make some guesses about what happens next...

Tom looks a bit shifty here. Is he still planning on jumping ship and returning to his beloved Ireland?

Surely not with wife Sybil about to pop?

Or perhaps he's thinking that the labor will make a good time to slip away without her noticing?

Ah ha! What is going on in the middle of the night at Downton?

Sybil is looking a little less pristine than usual... perhaps her chauffeur/aristocrat baby is planning it's dramatic entrance.
And who knew Lady Mary and Edith looked so glam in their PJs?!

The dreamy smiles on their faces probably only mean one thing: little baby Branson has arrived!

What on earth is this?! Is Daisy... smiling?
What unprecedented turn of events could have put this grin on sullen Daisy's face?

Downton Abbey 3 - Episode 4

Full recap below:
(spoiler - dont read further if you have yet to watch the episode)

204"Episode Four"Andy GoddardJulian Fellowes7 October 201211.83 [nb 14]47 minutes
August 1920. When an aristocrat's home in Ireland is burned to the ground, Branson is found to have been at the burning and is wanted by the police. He escapes to Downton Abbey without Sybil, and the Crawleys are outraged. Sybil eventually returns to Downton safely, and Lord Grantham is able to convince the Home Secretary to allow Branson to remain in England, though he will be arrested if he returns to Ireland. Anna has not received any letters from Bates and is no longer allowed to visit; similarly Bates wonders why Anna's letters and visits have stopped. When Bates falls back into the prison guards' favour, he and Anna receive their missing letters. Ethel decides to let her son live with his grandparents so he can have a better life. Carson recruits a new footman, Jimmy Kent, who attracts the attention of the female staff and Thomas. Ivy Stuart, the new kitchen maid, draws Alfred's attention away from Daisy. Edith writes to the newspaper supporting more widespread women's suffrage.

Alright everyone - CALM DOWN!
*PBS isn’t going anywhere!

PBS is not primarily funded through federal tax dollars. In contrast, it’s largely supported by, well, viewers like you (sound familiar?). Almost 60% of funding for public television comes from private donors or grants. Additional funding is provided by dues paid by member stations.

We will still have our Downton Abbey.

Downton Abbey 3 - Episode 4 preview!

Here are a few juicy tidbits about the next two episodes of Downton Abbey:

In the above preview of episode 4, it appears as though Branson is at Downton while Sybil is back in Ireland, pregnant and alone. Surely there is more to it, because we know Branson would never abandon her. Right? And her cryptic call to Edith? Scary.

Meanwhile, ITV has released the description for episode 5:

An exciting offer for Edith divides opinion.

Isobel throws Ethel a lifeline.

New maid Ivy is attracting attention below stairs, and Alfred's interest in particular is resented by Daisy.

Anna's perseverance finally pays off.

Matthew's concerns about the estate grow but are his protests falling on deaf ears?

Can't wait to hear about the "exciting offer" for Lady Edith, in light of the heartbreaking third episode we just watched. It's kind of disappointing to learn Ethel is still lurking about, but the romance below stairs and Anna maybe finding a break in Bates' case make us feel better about the episode.

Only three more days until Episode four!
