OH. MY. GOSH...
The upcoming adaptation from Universal Pictures is directed by Oscar winning director Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) and scheduled for theatrical release this December.
It's been quite some time when I've been this excited for Christmas. I'm litterally counting the days until I get to take the family to the movies! Viewing the trailers for Les Miserables brought it all back... This was the first Opera I saw, the first time a classic story played out in front of me, live and with such breathtaking music, I was in tears almost the entire time.
I forgot how powerful and passionate Les Misérables is: The story, the music, the emotional turmoil of it all. I mean, there's a reason they didn't call it Les Super-Happy. Just hearing the songs again reminded me. I saw the extended trailer first, and I was memorized. Completely blown away. Before the extended trailer had ended, I had already decided we would be viewing this movie as a family on Christmas day. (only 89 more days)
The film, directed by Tom Hooper ("The King's Speech") stars Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Samantha Barks, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen. All of the cast members sang the film's musical numbers - including iconic songs like "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own" and "One Day More" - live during the shoot.
"Les Miserables" lands in theaters Christmas Day.
I'll be there.

The first poster for the film adaptation of "Les Miserables" has arrived, but it doesn't show any of the big-name stars that appear (and sing) in the film.
What it does show will look familiar to "Les Mis" fans - a close-up of young Cosette (Isabelle Allen), just like the iconic artwork for the musical's Broadway production.

I absolutely CANNOT WAIT!!! What should I do?
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that watching Downton Abbey will help fill my need for worthwhile/uplifting things to watch. But when season 3 of DA ends in November, I think we may have to start a support group to get us through until Christmas.
DeleteI agree! I have no desire to watch anything else!
