| March 1920. Cora’s mother, Martha Levinson, sweeps into Downton for Matthew and Mary’s wedding, astonishing the Dowager Countess with her critical and "revolutionary" American way of seeing things. Lord Grantham learns that his massive investment of Cora's fortune in the Grand Trunk Railway has failed, leaving the estate near bankruptcy. Salvation is possible, as Matthew is entitled to inherit a large amount of money from Lavinia's father, but his high values will not let him keep the money, feeling it a betrayal of Lavinia and her father. Meanwhile, O'Brien's nephew Alfred joins the staff downstairs and struggles to satisfy Carson's high standards, made worse by Thomas' jealous behaviour. Sybil and her husband, Tom Branson, return to Downton to a muted response, particularly as Branson remains highly vocal about his political beliefs. Matthew repairs things when he chooses Branson to be his best man, and despite hesitance the night before, Matthew and Mary are married. | |||||||

ReplyDeleteIf you are looking for ways to watch Downton Abbey online, try Amazon's Instant Videos. I watched season two on Amazon and it is free if you are a Prime member. I also saw season two available on Hulu Plus a few days ago.
ReplyDeleteSeasons 1 and 2 can be found under Simply June's Logo on the far right hand side in red.

ReplyDeleteit may be from an ad on the blog. you can wait a moment and it will finish, or you can scroll up to the ad and select MUTE or lower the volume. Also, make sure there are no other windows open that could be playing at the same time.

ReplyDeleteHave you given up on this site? You've not answered any questions since February?
ReplyDeleteI got an anonymous comment about a hour after this comment on March 20, saying "never mind, I got it to work". Just in case that is not you.... try restarting your computer or it may be that you just need to refresh the screen. The videos also works best in Google Chrome. You should be able to simply click on the video screen to play or the play button on the lower left hand side of the screen.
DeleteDear June,
ReplyDeleteI am so delighted I found your site. Not only for all the great quotes and stories but for Downton Abbey. I had not heard of it before and watched the first episode and was hooked. I have watched all the episodes of seasons 1 & 2 and just started on season 3. (All in a matter of 3 days). Other than going to church and one missionary meeting, I have done nothing else. Thank you, thank you, thank you! What a wonderful gift. After Downton Abbey....Call the Midwife.
I wonder how historically accurate the wedding is. Also, when Mary's carriage is going down the street towards the church and there are people cheering her on - is that something the show's creators did for dramatic effect or did people really hold aristocrats in such high regard? I'm hoping someone will be able to answer my questions since I'm pretty curious or perhaps give me a link :)
