Pioneer Trek
See how many times you can spot Jordan in the two videos from last summers TREK.
This is what he wore on the first video and on the second video he is wearing a dark red shirt with the same hat.

Josh & the Police Academy
It's been a bit crazy getting the things he needs but he is all set now and cant wait to get started. It was weird to go with him to buy things like handcuffs and Guns!! It does make me nervous, but at the same time, I know this is the perfect field for him to go into. He has wanted this for so long and i know He is going to be great!!
This is very much a career tailor made for him. In some ways, He's been training for a career in law enforcement since he was little.
In fact, ask his buddy/cousin/partner in crime,
lauren about when they attended
The Christa McAuliffe Space Education Center!
Now I need to find out how to get over the anxiety I have about my boy carrying a loaded weapon, never mind the fact that he has chosen a dangerous profession.

| Lauren & Joshua |
She was the Captain and Josh her security officer....
Its a Great story about
a cute female captian, who wants to explore the galaxy and attempt to make friends with the aliens
but.....
her security officer kills every alien in sight against her orders. And he does this three times. The funny thing is that Josh still defends his actions with as much passion as Lauren has when she repeatedly reminds him that he was supposed to obey the captain!!
So anyway, we are all happy for him and are glad he is planning to pursue bad guys now instead of aliens.
I am already so proud of him, I can imagine how amazing it will be when he graduates!!
Seriously, being a mom is so cool.
Go
Josh!

It's okay... I got this.
We are only one block away but we still managed to arrive late to church on Sunday, so we tried to sneak in the back. The kids and I were sitting near the back row when I heard the speaker say something that really stuck in my mind. The lovely young lady speaking said that sometimes we are given the same trial over and over until we conquer that trial. Let me repeat that.....We will keep getting similar trials until we finally get it right. I admit that the first thing that popped in my head was "Oh man, apparently I have at least one trial I've been working on since I was 15!!" That's really depressing.
But then I remembered how far I have come. All those tough times, all those faith building trials I thought just may break me, have instead, built up the spiritual armor I put on each day. Well, I mean the armor I SHOULD put on each day. Sometimes I tell myself I am in to much of a hurry or I don't feel like carrying the weight of my armor, so I end up grabbing the shield made out of aluminum foil instead of the one made of Iron. It always ends up backfiring though. Eventually, I find myself in a situation where I need to be strong but I'm not prepared. I can tell you, I have felt pretty stupid standing ready to battle a big ugly spiritual giant, next to other women, when someone says

I am a big sister and I take my job very seriously. I can remember watching episodes of The Brady Bunch and staring longingly at the TV, thinking
My brother & sisters gradually gained confidence because they knew I was behind them all the way. Over the years I would see them struggle a bit with bullies or mean people but gradually, even though they knew they could count on me to step in, they didn't need me as much as they once did. Whatever each of us was going through, I was always on standby, ready take on the world if needed. And then, late one night, things changed forever.
My sister Lisa and I had just finished grabbing a bite to eat at Los Hermonos in Provo and were walking to the car. There on the sidewalk, coming towards us was a scary looking drunk guy. The closer he got, the more dodgy he looked. We did the silent look at each other. You know the look.... The look you give when you know that you both are thinking the same thing. And we were both thinking "we have a code blue...creepy dude approaching" He got closer & closer and then, when he was about a car length away, he jumped in front of us and yelled "MONSTRO"!!!
Now, I don't know what on earth monstro means but when a strange drunk guy screams it in your face, you're going to freak out. It really startled us!
Her weapons were a wallet, Tae Bo skills, and yelling loudly. I didn't have the same weapons as she did but I could have used my pointy shoes, car keys and the box of leftovers from dinner. That guy would have been in big trouble if I had to use leftovers AND a good swift kick to the bollocks with my pointy shoe!
Right then and there I realized she didn't need me to protect her anymore. She hadn’t really needed my help for quite a while. She knew I was there for her but she could handle this guy. Not only could she handle it, she was going to use everything she had to fight off Mr. Monstro. Not only did she not need me to jump in, she had actually jumped in front of me to protect me!!
I know Heavenly Father stands by us while we gain our spiritual confidence, and even when we lose it. He is there beside us, as we work on making our armor stronger and He lovingly steps in when we have done all we can do. And the great thing to me, is that I know when I show up wounded after battle because I chose to go out with the aluminum foil on, I still have a way to get back on track. I know there is always a way to get back to work on my armor. And when I have done absolutely all I can do, I know it will be okay. Why? Because I know that because of the atonement, when I have done all I can, there is a higher power stepping in to say "I've got this".

"Uh, are you really going to take on the giant with your cardboard/foil outfit?
So rude...... But what can you do, except try and save some small portion of your dignity, by stating very proudly, in your best mean girl voice,
"Um, It's not an outfit, its armor....Duh." .....and then RUN. Not your finest moment, but you've got bigger problems.
So, after church I kept thinking about how I need to keep upgrading my armor. I was reading a talk by Henry B. Erying, and it reminded me of how I have learned a lot from just being a sister.
"I want to be a big sister just like Marsha".
I wanted so badly to be SUPER SISTER!!
Need advice? Need to borrow a blow dryer?
Got boy troubles?
or have you recently been hit in the face with a football?
Look no further....
The big sister will see you now.
When I heard or saw someone being mean to them, I was right there by their side, saying "I got this...." I wanted them to never feel alone, especially when they felt sad or hurt. Don't get me wrong, all of my siblings have annoyed me a time or two, but they all knew I had their back if they needed it.

But before I could do any of my Super Big Sister stuff, Lisa jumped in front of me, held up her wallet and yelled
"I'M READY FOR YOU PAL!!.........
I know Tae Bo!!"
And she meant business!! I couldn't believe my eyes!
My sister was Jackie Chan.
(Honestly, One of the funniest things I have ever seen.)

I am always telling my kids that when they are given a trial in life that seems too much to handle, that is the moment when it will test all the upgrades they have been making. In many ways they have been strengthening their armor, and now they then need to strap it on tight. So, instead of crumbling at the sight of the giant, they can grab their shield and say "I'm ready for you pal!"
We all have different strengths and talents to draw from and that makes our tools and weapons against the evils of the world, slightly different. Maybe I need a stronger helmet than my friend does, and maybe she needs a tougher shield than I do, but at the end of the day we will both hopefully, be equally ready for whatever comes our way.
I know Heavenly Father stands by us while we gain our spiritual confidence, and even when we lose it. He is there beside us, as we work on making our armor stronger and He lovingly steps in when we have done all we can do. “I have built a great reservoir of faith by starting early and being steady in obedience. I will store it away against the times when I will be tested in storms.” - Henry B. Eyring
“I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them” (Ether 12:27).

LEXI
There are a few things that can instantly cheer me up.
One of those things is my incredibly wonderful, personality filled, lovely niece......
There is nothing quite like a cute girl bouncing through my door, running up the stairs and giving me a HUGE hug!!!
It's instant happiness!!
Her smile is infectious,
her laugh is contagious,
and her sweet spirit is obvious to everyone around her. Of course I love her like crazy! But why wouldn't I? I mean, she is alot like her mom and I simply adore her mom!
She looked so pretty and so grown up! I am so glad my super cool sister had such super cool girls!!
