Yesterday, in Sacrament Meeting, I got a wee bit distracted and started looking at all the pictures on my phone.  Jordan was sitting on the other side of me and started looking at the photos with me. 

Then, Brian gave Jordan and I the why aren’t you being reverent?  which was just annoying because up until this moment, I had been looking at the scriptures   on my iPhone.!!! 

So, I whispered to Brian;
"there is nothing wrong with looking at pictures!  I am a grown woman, thank you very much!”   And here comes the sarcasm:


I said; “At least I am being quiet!!  You are talking to me right now, and it’s not appropriate!!” 

HA!  Now, Jordan and I are the ones in our family who tend to be a little, tiny bit irreverent and  crack up over the littlest and dumbest things. 
 But NOT TODAY!
So, I was super impressed with our REVERENCE skills! ……until we look down at the phone and see this:   


Uh,oh.......Game over. 
And of course the last class of the day was our RS joint meeting with the men.  Our topic was Reverence.

Just a little peek....

After stressing out the other morning my sister Lisa (who is as much a part of me as my eyes are) drives over and orders me into the car because she is taking me to lunch to de-stress a bit.  Isn't she great?! 

(But wait, hold that thought because I was dressed for the gym and NOT a restaurant.  And it is this fact that will lead to what happens at lunch.)  continue....

We decide to try Los Hermonos in Provo because we have to go to the Provo attorneys office anyway.  Now for those who don't know, Los Hermonos is great!  Yummy Mexican food but not super expensive.  Recently they moved to a new location just down the block.  The new place is nice and used to be an Italian restaurant. 

When we walked in I felt pretty stupid because Lisa looked nice and I looked like I should have been holding a cardboard sign saying will work for Mexican food.  So,  I ask the hostess to be seated someplace where I wouldn't feel as stupid about how I was dressed.  Where did we end up?  In a corner, facing a wall, against a wall, in a big room.  Nice.  So here we sit, and after a minute or two I notice that about 10 inches from my face is a huge almost life size painting on the wall of  Michelangelo's DAVID.
Since this is now a Mexican restaurant they have hung a large blanket from the waist down. My guess would be to help poor David be a bit more modest.  Lisa and I are talking and we wonder if they "censored" this DAVID when it was an Italian restaurant?  So, without thinking (as I do) I lift the blanket and take a peek! Then,  while my whole head is now under the blanket and I am telling Lisa "Yep, it's all under here!", I hear laughing and turn my head to see there is some sort of a business meeting going on with a bunch of men I hadn't noticed and they have watched me disappear under a Mexican blanket to see what was on Davids menu.

The Hinckley Wave

My friend Wes, is a member of the Tabernacle Choir, and has been for many years, so I get to hear some pretty great stories. Here's one I enjoyed this week:

Under Temple Square there is a maze of wide hallways which are used to get from one building to another without having to go outside. It's faster too. In fact over the years Wes has seen golf carts pass carrying a general authority or two. As he described the golf carts zipping by, he stopped and laughed.

Wes said; "do you want to hear something funny about President Hinckley?" Hmmm, let me see. Uh, yes. Yes I do! So he told me about how he and the Prophet had a common problem. They both had halo of hair left on the sides of an otherwise thinning hair line.

When President Hinckley would hop in the golf cart, he would lift his arms and hold down the hair on the sides of his head. Wes explained that if he didn't do this he would ended up with all the hair sticking straight out. The funny thing is that President Hinckley still waved and smiled at everyone, as he always did, year after year. Everyone saw how much he loved life and people.
All over the world, there are people he smiled and waved at, but if you found yourself in those hallways, as he passed by on a golf cart, he waved at you with his elbows! Awesome!

It's my laptop and I'll blog if I want to!

Well, this me and the things I love,  laugh at,  notice, question, dream of and hope for.
I've never been one to keep quiet or keep to myself, especially when it involves a story about all the "experiences" I end up having. So, I think creating a blog was inevitable. Somehow, I seem to end up having one crazy, funny or drama filled moment after the other, so why not write it all down! 

So this is for my family & friends that drop in and hopefully decide to come back occasionally.  I'm sure that somedays I'll share what made me laugh, or what  made me sad and other days maybe a cool picture, cute clothes, or share something I have found useful.  

What I hope for though, is to find myself in more moments that make me stop and forget the worries of the world. Moments that fill my heart with joy in being a mother, a wife, a sister and a friend.  Moments when I remember that I am a daughter of God, and that fact alone is reason to stand taller and work harder to be the best version of me.  So, wherever this is going, hang on and join me for the ride!

What made me smile this week

The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths.
These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern.
Beautiful people do not just happen.

Start off with a Bang?

Imagine my shock as I pull into the parking lot at Gold's Gym, only to find there isn't a single parking space available!  Something tells me maybe I am not the only "pleasantly plump" gal with a goal to get fit in 2011.

Either way, my first couple of days in 2011 lacked the BANG I would have liked.  It was more like the sound of a car backfiring a few times....awesome.
